Fiat 2000 Parts from Canada

Post by Batlcry »

I have a 1981 Spider 2000 and want to buy some parts for it through the winter.. specifically looking for the bumperette set, front spoiler, sun visors and some mechanical parts (motor & transmission mounts, timing belt).
I live in Canada and have found a few good US suppliers but have been unable to find any suppliers here at home. Just wondering if anyone knows of a Canadian company that can supply parts like those I mentioned?
Thanks,
Lon.

If you can go to the border, ship your parts there.

HI
I am in Montreal and would like to find an alternative to the high cost of shipping from the USA, or the hassle of crossing into Trump land to collect shipments .
When I had a Jensen Interceptor I bought all my parts from the UK saving on; parts costs , shipping costs and avoided long Customs delays .
I have looked for a Fiat supplier in Europe who will ship direct to Canada
I found a German company with an E Bay store - Fiat Parts [ 1445*] Their prices in $ US are comparable or cheaper than US suppliers . Their shipping costs via German postal service are cheaper .I will give them a try over the winter and report .

UPS from the States to Canada is a joke. Very expensive with their seemingly random charges. use the postal service, less expensive.
As mentioned if there is a postal drop across the line, use that if you have a passport. On the way back you will be charged any taxes that might be due.
To purchase parts in Canada I have used Ital Motors in Edmonton. Bear in mind they are a business and have already paid any exchange rates and marked up to stay in business. Again mail it.. Another that some might chime in about, is Andy's Spiders in Toronto. They restore Fiats and usually have some parts available.

I agree UPS is a rip off but many US companies insist on using them because they will pick up from the vendor . US postal service is quicker ,cheaper and traceable at least until the parcel crosses the border , but the vendor has to take the parcel to the Post Office .
E Bay's global delivery system is the worst , things simply disappear and there is no way of making human contact .

the postoffice does pickup from my mailbox. you arrange shipping through the US postoffice website. you can even schedule a pickup, but as they come everyday, you only have to put the red flag up.

we mail parts to Canada all the time. we put "antique auto parts duty exempt code 9966.00.00" on the label.
as the online shipping software will not calculate overseas postage, you can just buy the parts on our website, spiderroadster and we will send an invoice for the postage.

as a us navy member stations at Argentia Newfoundland in the 60's I am happy to help.

Thanks

Hey All.. thanks for the replies to my post. I guess it seems that there are no real parts suppliers here in Canada as others were wondering the same thing. Checked out Ital Motors but appears to be basically a repair business.
I know about shipping to the US close to the border but this is still a hassle and had hoped there was something in this country.
Oh well...

Ital does carry Fiat and Alfa parts. because of the state of affairs....Edmonton is not really a hot-bed of Fiat activities, they have ventured into repairing other models as well. I have bought brake calipers, headers, and interior parts from them. Gasket kits, clutches as well.

Hi back.. and thanks for the info. I checked out the two sites you posted, just a bit of trouble with the language as I speak no German. Maybe I can work through that somehow.
Cheers from Canada!

Batlcry: If you click on the box in the upper right hand corner of the spider-point site and hit enter and be patient it will display in English.

Hey Maxdog.. thanks for the info. Actually saw the English button and tried it but it only changed the top lines, didn't change the description of the parts. Maybe I didn't wait long enough. Will try it again.
What is the VAT tax, not sure.. Things are cool up here in Canada. If it gets any wackier down there in trump land come on up.. we've got lots of room for US refugees.

If you click the English button and then use the parts menu drop down it immediately changes to English. Accessing parts by type from the menu then displays the parts descriptions in English. At least that's the way it works here in the good old USA where Fiat parts are cheap and plentiful.

And BTW, you don't know what a VAT tax is really? You call it a GST. Do a little historical reading on your own country before throwing stones at others.

Lon,

I have found http://www.spider-point.com very helpful. As they tend to post the costs in Euros I usually call them to place an order. They have parts you cannot always find in the US and their English is very good. Nice guys. Do not know if this helps with your shipping issue though.
