I had an odd problem recently. The battery died on my 77 a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't really have time to figure out why until today (just put it on the charger).
Well, the alternator (a new 95 amp one) had got loose, allowing a ton of slack in the belt. I got that sorted, and while doing so, noticed that a green wire from the alternator to a connector of some sort (that I crimped on?) looks like it's been cut cleanly in half.
I can't remember where all those wires go, and I'm not sure where I put the directions for the upgrade.
Any help? Do I need that wire connected? Did I cut it on purpose months ago?
I'll take a picture if needed.

the green/red wire from the alternator must connect to the wire that comes from the dashboard warning light

Well, that would explain why I didn't see that little light. Not sure how that bolt got backed out a good quarter inch and the wire got cut like that.
