I'm in the process of swapping a 1608 double Weber engine into my Spider BS1 which had a 1438 single Weber engine. As it is my first time I encounter some puzzling situations. Lots of them I was able to tackle, also with help of this forum. For the following I haven't found an answer yet.
For the new configuration I'm using the existing coil. It has a black wire which ran from the coil to the distributor located right front of engine (seen from front of car).
The new engine has another type of distributor (see photo's):
- a MagMarelli (maybe not original for a 124?)
- located at the other side on top at the back
- it has no external wires or visible connector
Should the black wire be attached to the new distributor also? Where should it be attached to? Or is the connection redundant due to other type of distributor? On the wire diagrams there always seems to be a black wire connection from coli to distributor; so I'm lost.
Thanks!
