1980 spider tachometer

Post by sigkadetm »

I'm having an issue with the tachometer. It seems to be jumping every now and then. There seems to be a slight miss when this happens. Wondering if the coil or the pick-up can be going. Never did that before.

Check that your distributor hold down nut is tight. I once experienced a jumpy tach and it turned out that a loose hold down nut was the culprit. Once I retightened the nut (and reset the timing), all was normal again. Good luck.

Check the pick-up wires under the distributor plate. They fray over time and can cause the symptoms you are having.
