I got one of mark shifter handle and im wondering how the ball comes off to put on the new one, or how does it all work

are you asking about the shift knob? or the pivot ball at the bottom?

the pivot ball is made onto the lever, it's not removeable

I'm not trying to be a 'smart ass', but why not contact the source from whom you purchased the shifter, and ask them?

The little fingers on the clip (3) need to be pushed in by shoving something up the base of the chrome handle and you can pull it off.
(3) referes to the number in the illustration, there are more than 3 fingers.

I'm not clear on what you're trying to do. The short shifter is one piece, the shift knob threads onto the top

My question was, the new shifter i bought from you, does it just go in place as if you are reinstalling the original one

Well it ended up that i have the older style transmission, so In that case the shifter would not work, but greg from allisons will be sending the right part to make it work

When you get this done, I'd love to see a picture or two on the forum. I've been thinking about the same change to Mark's short shifter.
