Hello,
I have lost the signal lights and the hazard light. There does not appear to be and blown fuses. Where should I start? Electrical really isn't my forte but I think I can resolve this with a little guidance.
Thanks,
Brad

Re: Lost signals and hazard
First I'd clean up the fuse holders under the dash, left side. I have a little dremel with a wire brush for the top and bottoms. Some steel wool for top and bottom of the fuses themselves.
Get a wiring diagram and chase down where they ground and clean that/those as well.

Re: Lost signals and hazard
I believe all the Spiders emergency flashers operate from the "hot all the time" circuit in the car. The signal lights operate from the "hot in start and run" circuit in the car. The common points that could cause a failure of both is the Hazard switch itself. The power source is selected by the hazard switch. If it fails or becomes unplugged you will loose signal and Hazard lights. I think the 78 shares the same flasher for hazard and signal so that is another point to check

Re: Lost signals and hazard
On the steering column under the dash on the left side there is a metal socket called the "test socket" with two wires going to it. The power to the flashers and hazard switch goes through it, if you have unplugged one of the wires the turn signals and hazard flasher will not work. I spent two days with a multi-meter trying to trace power and found a wire off there that was tucked up in the dash by the previous owner.

Re: Lost signals and hazard
I'm unclear whether you had it disconnected and now need to re-install it, or if the signals/hazard stopped working while installed.
I've run into that a couple times and it was always as simple as connecting the wires to the hazard switch (fully seating them) or making sure the hazard button isn't stuck halfway between on and off. A stuck hazard switch will disable all that functionality.

We got a winner!! Months ago I was messing with the stereo and must have pulled the connector loose. Thanks for all your input.spider2081 wrote:I believe all the Spiders emergency flashers operate from the "hot all the time" circuit in the car.
