Re: Brakes and Asbestos
Some aftermarket pad manufacturers continued to use asbestos through the 1990's, but I can't find anything available today for our Spiders containing asbestos. If you personally can't vouch for the pads presently on your car, it would be prudent to use best-practices to protect yourself. Specifically, douse the area with aerosol brake cleaner, then mop up while wet with disposable paper towels. Never use compressed air to clean, nor a vacuum cleaner to remove brake dust.
Check with your supplier when installing new pads to ensure an asbestos-free installation. Maybe keep a record of the pad info in your owners manual.
