Courtesy light door switch

Post by Nitrate »

1981. 2000. This switch works and turns on the dash mounted light when the door is open, however the light does not turn off when the door is closed. If I push the switch in by hand the light turns off. I'm thinking that the rubber bumper is not pushing the switch in far enough. Is this a common problem ? Is there an adjustment I can make to correct this problem? RB

I can not find a replacement bumper from the usual suppliers. What do you call it? What heading do you look under? Where can I buy one? RB

I looked the bumper is good but does not line up properly with switch button. Bumper is too high and too far in. Odd thing is there is a welding bead half way around the rubber bumper mounting hole. I know the hinge was repaired via welding by the PO. Wonder if this somehow misaligned the bumper alignment hole? Anyone? Thanks RB

sounds fishy. Post pix so we can see what they did. the solution is to get them lined up again. Just depends if you want to get it factory right or jury rig it.

It's not real high on my priority list so I'll probably just disconnect for now. Thanks to all for the feedback. I haven't mastered posting photos as yet. RB
