I just got a set of these chrome bezel rings. Very nice quality I must say... but I have no idea how to install them. They seem to be the exact size as the black bezels that are there.... Does anyone else have these things and if so, how did you put yours on?
thanks in advance,
jaz
chrome bezel rings
Re: chrome bezel rings
did you get the plastic rings that fit over the black bezel? get some clear silicon. works like a charm, and ... reversable!
if you have the metal bezels that replace the black ones.... sorry, i am not a finesse kinda guy.

Re: chrome bezel rings
i've done the metal ones
needed to take off the black bezels first , take the oppertunety to clean as good as well your gaugeglasses and inserts , force the bezels on by laying them downwards your table and pres your gauge on it
the little ones went pretty fine the big gauges however i needed to sanpaper the plastic from the gauge a bit to make them fit
ive also uses a 2 component glue to secure the bezels becouse when you place them in your console you will 'pull" them off , be sure not to overdo the glue , especially on the gaugehouse , or else they wouldn't fit anymore
i also took the oppertunety to order a new plastic clock glass , looks like new now
if you want i can post some pictures later , my bezels came of this german ebay seller (approx 45$)
it sure is a nice surplus to your instrument cluster , you wont regret it

Re: chrome bezel rings
Thanks Tappy, it sounds like we bought the same rings (mathews parts). Are you saying you have to take the black one's off? how do I go about doing that? Do I have to remove the guages completely from the dash to do this? I was going to do the clock glass as well with some 2 mm clear lexan we have at the factory. I'll get one of the engineers to do up a dxf file and give it to the cnc guy to do up a bunch. If they come out good, I'm sure I can interest a few people here with them.

Re: chrome bezel rings
damn and i just bought one of those glasses for 18$ ....
i did have to take the bezels of , i just used a cutter to cut them of , but if you can find a way to get them of in one piece i'm sure someone would take them of your hands
you need to get the gauges out of the car , otherwise you wont get it fixed , be sure to glue the bezels on firmly becouse when mounting the gauges back you pull them tight
i post you some pics when i have my car back , its standing aside the raod somewhere becouse one of the water hoses suddenly exploded
wile you have the dash of you can as well put on this foil
http://www.foliatec.com/foliatec/shop_i ... uctId=3101
it works like a charm , dit all the wood pieces this way and it looks stunning
heres an idea how it looks then (exept for the white gauges)

Re: chrome bezel rings
very nice Tappy... Oh well, I guess I'll wait for next winter to tackle this project. I had planned on taking out the wood anyway and getting one of my engineers to draw them up in autocad and then send them off to the cnc shop to cut out some nice hardwood versions for replacements. When the time comes to do so I'll post and see if anyone wants one. It's just as easy to cut 10 as it's to cut 1. I'll do the bezels then too.
thanks
thanks

Re: chrome bezel rings
How did this project ever turn out? I'm thinking about getting a set of the chrome replacement bezels and am wondering how they turned out for you.
I'm also wondering if you've created any hardwood dash pieces. I would be very interested in hearing more about this if you have.
