1981 2000. In the Fiat 124 and 2000 models what transmissions are bolt in interchanges?. Any one know of sources for a good used one in NY, NJ, CONN, PA.? Thanks RB

To my knowledge any Fiat 1800 or 2000 engines all had the same transmissions and bolt patterns

Thanks SLO. Can anyone else chime in and confirm they all used the same transmission? RB

Everything I've ever seen references all internal parts to be more-or-less interchangable for all years. The shifter changed for 73-up, and I believe the clutch is different for 72-up, but if you stick to a 73 or newer it should go right on.

Speedo gear may be different, but they are easy to swap before you install it.

With the help of Frank from Auto Riccambi in TX on parts, I have a great mechanic in North NJ who can do the job for you. He ordered parts pieces and gears needed and rebuilt my transmission like new. Very happy with work.

Please feel free to give me a shout to discuss and get details.

Matt, Thats a great lead, thank you. Mine is making an odd noise , I know it needs a clutch. Can he diagnose trans problems by driving and listening? RB

Yes, he can diagnose and order all the parts from Auto Ricammbi. Probably not a bad idea to have clutch replaced when he has it out. You can buy a rebuilt trans but they are not cheap and probably makes more sense to have original rebuilt, keep original parts in car.

All the transmissions are interchangeable. The earlier cars had a smaller bell housing but those swap out as well....
