Clutch Return Spring Under Dash

Post by Nitrate »

I read the posts that describe adding coins or washers between the clutch return spring coils making it longer so it can be removed from its anchor point. QUESTION IS: How do you get the coins between the coils? RB

Hold the pedal down to extend the spring, then slip the coins into the spaces between the coils. The coins will be squeezed in place when you release the pedal, keeping the spring extended.

Kevin, That's what I was not doing. I had disconnected the cable completely from under the car so the spring did not stretch. I was trying to pry the coils part using the blade of a screwdriver. It became evident this was not a good idea if I wanted to keep all my fingers. Thanks for your help. RB
