Need help on new starter
I just put a new starter on my 74 spyder and now the car won't start. I don't have any electrical power. The battery is fully charged. Whwn you hook the starter up you have one ground on the back to ground the bell housing. On the front the selinoid has two post and a smaller connect for the egnition. Does it matter which lead goes on the posts, I assume one of the post is for the ground. If i get these backward is it going to hurt the system when i connect the battery back.
Re: Need help on new starter
the ground lead goes from the bottom of the unibody to a bell housing bolt, There are two posts on the solenoid. The lower one has a lead into the starter motor. The battery cable and all other large wires go to the upper post on the solenoid. There is a small wire with a spade connector that pushes onto the solenoid. The starter is grounded through the case and doesn't need a separate ground wire
