Exhaust questions.

While I'm waiting for the replacement upper heater box, figured I'd drain the coolant, replace the radiator fan switch I'd planned to do all along, and since I had the car on jack stands, work on the exhaust and e-brake projects.

Old "generic" cobbled exhaust is off the car, as well as the original downpipe (glad I'm replacing it....two holes, top and bottom, at the "Y"). Question # 1: I have a new downpipe gasket; should I squeeze a small bead of exhaust gasket sealer on both sides, or just bolt it up as is?

Second: does anyone have a pic of where the bolt on exhaust bracket fastens? I'm searching for the bolt hole under the car, and coming up empty. Csaba sent along a really nice looking clamp/bracket assembly, I just have to figure out where it goes.

New exhaust system all laid out alongside the car. Using AR's performance system. Laying it alongside the PO's system, I can really appreciate why the car was so noisy (knocks and rattles). E-brake comes next (tired of using Chunk, Pine, Treated, 4x4x18, Mrk I), then back into the interior.

TIA

Neil

your car should have a bracket on the rear corner of the transmission that the clamp attaches to

You should not need any sealer. On the right rear rear bottom of the trans, where the rear housing mates to the main housing there is a little stud. The exhaust bracket attaches to this stud and the rear housing bolt above it (you have to remove the bolt, put the bracket on, then reinsert and tighten the bolt).

Thanks as well, Csaba! Going back under in a few (home sick today...might as well crawl under the Fiat and have some fun). New system looks really nice staged next to the car....

The PO took the studs out of the current transmission, but I found both of them in the original tranny (out of the car @ present....a future project), and swapped them over to the current trans. Bracket went on nicely. Next is the down pipe, then center, then rear section.

BTW, Csaba, my recent order (placed Tues at 1100) arrived today....a day earlier than projected! Thanks! Heater core is next, after the exhaust.
