What I thought could only be a head gasket problem turned out to be my own lack of knowledge.
Until yesterday, I had no idea that when you get a block bored, you have to scrub the thing afterwards. Yep, clean it very well to remove all the metal shavings/ residue left in the cylinders. Turns out, if you neglect to do this, you destroy the brand new rings you were stupid enough to install. Live and learn!! I'm sure you all know this already but I didn't! So, now I have crap tons of oil blowing by my rings and burning up in the exhaust, or not... Maybe just hanging out making a mess of things.

So, next step, pull it all apart and install new rings. At least I have been smart enough to not get the thing painted while I still have so much messy learning to do!
