FWIW...
On the 1800 I'm running the Abarth Style header from AR, with a 2.5" pipe right to a magnaflow backbox with twin tips. It's very loud, in no small part due to the engine mods.
On the 2000 FI which has only mildly higher compression, I've got the stock header, cat, expander - and the same magnaflow backbox with twin tips. It sounds really nice. Full, rich and sonorous. I cut the bodywork when redoing her, so there's a nice wide notch for the tips.
