Carpet and undercarpet insulation

I was all set to go to Lowes and buy some carpet, but then I got a sweet deal on original '74 red corn roll (?) carpets. Needs a serious cleaning in the usual areas, but the parts that are clean are great.

Question: anyone ever use self tapping screws to lay down the carpet?

the problem with the screws is if it goes thru the floor to the underside of the car water will wick up and .. well thats a problem..... if you got underneath and sealed them.... also the screw will pull the carpet down in just that one spot... will look sorta poka dotted if you know what i mean.... and then there is the chance the screw will grab a thread in the carpet and create a run... like in an old sweater....

test fit... some 3m adhesive spray and put er down.... holds tight enough for what you need and not too tight if you have to pull it up for say running speaker wires or some type of repair ..... then spray it again and put it back.... of course just my opinion...... i payed closer attention to the areas where my feet go .. making sure it was good and stuck along the edges... gravity and trim will take care of everything else......

After taking all that time to pull up the factory tar coating the last thing I wanted to do was apply adhesive on my new beautiful POR15 floor



After putting down my padding I just layed the carpet overtop, because it is Marine grade with a rubber backing it not only does not move it also carries enough weight to keep the padding in place as well.





Then rubber mats and I was all set
