So feel free to contact me if you come down from our impregnable island.

And please keep updating with new pics, I´m following your other thread.

PS: I want that oil cooler... Where did you buy it, was it a kit?

Francois
Thanks for the offer Francois, I do manage to invade the Eurozone sometimes! :D
Thanks for noticing my main thread, I've been busy finally posting everything in one go.

To be honest the mechanic who prepped the engine bay go the oil cooler because I'm so busy at work. It looked like a kit but all I know is from reading the Mocal label on top!

Try Pegasus Racing parts in the US, not sure in the UK or Europe.

Hello again Francois, sorry for the delay but I kept forgetting to take some pictures of the oil cooler fully installed. The pictures don't show much but I guess that's because it is hidden behind the grill and fairly unobtrusive.
This was obviously during the build.

I hope that helps you. It was money well spent because I've been driving it in stop-start traffic on hot (for the UK!) days (27C / 80F) and the oil pressure remained solid at tick-over (around 20 psi) and the engine temperature never became an issue, but I think the uprated alloy radiator has been a big help too.

I don't care much for that heat pad or what ever you call it, it looks kinda out of place, maybe fix it better

pgilling,
Nice engine bay, What is that on top of your carb? A cold air system? It looks really pratical, where do you get one? You mentioned Guy Croft built your engine, nice! I can't find anyone near me to build my engine so I will have to do the bottom end myself and have the head done by AutoRicambi.
Here is my 1438 lump, it is no beuty queen but it does get me from point A to point B.

Hi, it's a plenum from Webcon designed to take cooler ambient air into the carb. I needed it because of the extra heat caused by the lengthened header pipes I've got, coupled with the HC pistons means it was prone to pinking. The plenum got rid of the pinking plus making the car supposedly more efficient.

The heat shield may not look great to some but it is very effective in preventing pipes, wiring and metalwork from getting too hot.

One bit of advice I would offer is to consider buying Guy's latest book (via his website here http://www.guy-croft.co.uk). The depth of advice (and amusing examples) is second-to-none. Alternatively you could subscribe to his forum (http://www.guy-croft.com). Yes there is a one-off fee, but I promise you you won't be disappointed as there is a wealth of information there and if you subscribe he will respond quickly with very honest and professional advice.

Pesto, since Phil didn't really answer your question, he is using a cold air intake, typically used by the jeep guys for a snorkel when 4-wheeling in the water. Redline sells the whole set up for about $150.

Yeah I'm real close most of the wiring is done. I need oil ,filter, coolant, a water temp gauge, heater hoses and an HEI ignition module in order to fire the engine.
