Thanks SoFiaFiat.
Re: Engine Bay Gallery! Please add your own!
My 1977 CS1 1800 Californian Spider imported to the UK a year ago.
I have had the engine bay professionally 'dressed'
I had a 2.0L engine built by Guy Croft installed. The Exhaust was beautifully fabricated in situ by Lance of OJZ Engineering of Newark UK.
This is after the engine's first run in the car with the new exhaust. I like the way the header turned a nice gold colour.
This is what the car looks like now

Where did you get that header? Can you tell us something about it?
Re: Engine Bay Gallery! Please add your own!
WOW!!! this is beautiful. What kind of carb do you have, and do you have an oil cooler installed? Can you show some more pictures. This is really a great job.

I want that header!
Re: Engine Bay Gallery! Please add your own!
The exhaust was beautifully fabricated by Lance of OJZ engineering in Newark (UK!). He is normally used to doing race exhausts and his workmanship is incredible, the welds are beautiful. He said the added length should greatly improve the throttle response.sptcoupe wrote:Where did you get that header? Can you tell us something about it?

Hi, its a 32/36 Weber. I didn't go for twin 40s because of the hassle setting them up, additional expense and the far worse consumption. Also, I wanted an engine with good road power not race power. Those carbs should be good for at least 180+ bhp.coise wrote:WOW!!! this is beautiful. What kind of carb do you have, and do you have an oil cooler installed? Can you show some more pictures. But I asked Guy Croft to build an engine which was torquey and drivable with mid-range power. Its not been on the dyno yet but I want around 150-160 bhp with a nice broad torque curve. I'll post the results of the dyno run when I do it.
An oil cooler is installed and I've changed a couple of the photos so you can see the pipes in the engine bay. I'll add a picture of the cooler itself soon.

Here is an older picture of the oil cooler without the hoses fitted, I'll be posting newer ones on a different thread soon.coise wrote:WOW!!! this is beautiful. What kind of carb do you have, and do you have an oil cooler installed? Can you show some more pictures. This is really a great job.

I'm curious why you stayed with a single carb when you had the motor built by Guy Croft. Is it a question of law of diminishing returns, i.e. you got most of what you wanted with the rebuild and exhaust, and going to e.g. twin IDFs would have been only a small incremental improvement?

Thanks for the pictures.
Your header is incredible, how much did you pay for it?
By the way if you want even more power you can try to get a weber 38ADL. I´m installing one this summer, it´s suppose to be one of the best single carb you can have on the 124 spider. I will let you know.
Also what is the oil cooler brand and how did you attached it?
Anyway this is a great setup, if you come to the south of France one day give me buzz.

That header is beautiful!!!! That gives Mark's "Octopus" header a run for it's money in the looks department.pgilling wrote:The exhaust was beautifully fabricated by Lance of OJZ engineering in Newark (UK!). Hello Francois, the exhaust was actually hand built as a full system with 2 silencers. It was 5 day's work for a race exhaust builder.coise wrote:Thanks for the pictures.

I'm not aware of the 38ADL but I used the 32/36DGV as they are reliable, readily available and Guy recommends them so it was a no-brainer for me.
Here is a better picture of the oil cooler. They guy who 'dressed' the engine bay made up a neat bracket for it.
If I do take it down to the South of France I'll give you a shout. I'm hoping to take it to the Alps next year!

Thanks for the pictures. This is a nice exhaust set up and the quality of the welding is unbelievable.
I live in the southeast of France so not very far from the alps. I have family near Valence.
So feel free to contact me if you come down from our impregnable island.
And please keep updating with new pics, I´m following your other thread.
PS: I want that oil cooler... Where did you buy it, was it a kit?
