mounted to the grill? i tried that for a while, but found that the grill allows too much vibration thru to the lights which was annoying. shimmering light beams in front of me distracted my attention to the lights, rather than on the potential bovine hazards in front of me.

i was hoping for some ideas on a sturdier mounting to the body.

but, if there's no shimmy or shaking of the lights on this mounting... can you give me an idea of HOW they were mounted?

by in the grille I meant we cut out the grille so the lights are not behind nor in front of it. We bent brackets and mounted them to the body on the sides of the grille opening

'79 fiat. We top mounted mine from the crossbar inside the engine compartment. The placement puts them behind the grille in the upper section. Ill get a pic if you are interested.

Sorry for the delay, ill try to get a pic in the next day or so. My car is unfortunately "buried" in the garage in the midst of useless junk, and if I tell the wife Im going out to get a picture of the mounting of my fog lamps on my car for a bunch of fiat junkies she'll have my head examined.

IT'S DRIVING SEASON... you should not have your car buried under anything this time of year.

definitely, get that head examined.

It hasn't been driving season for my fiat for many, many years my friend. Here are the pics as requested.

Pic 1 is the front view of the lamps. I went with off the shelf square run of the mill cheap lamps. Unfortunately one was rocked about a week after I installed them so they virtually were never used.

Pic 2 is of the mounting bolt. We drilled through for the mounting.

Pic 3 is of the toggle mount. We mounted it to the left of the radio by drilling a hole through the black pop out tab that is next to the radio slot.

Unfortunately I can't recall how we wired it but I do recall that the toggle would get hot. Sorry, Ill have to pull the wires to figure it out. This was done 20 years ago, things are a little fuzzy from back then. We probably should have used some sort of relay somewhere. They did work fine with some vibration and were really bright with all the lights on. Ticked a few drivers off so they needed to be adjusted but once the one got rocked I pretty much stopped fooling with them.

After lots of research  and at the end of almost giving up. I finally found some fog lights and reverse lights that are cool to put on my car. Here's what I got for anyone who isn't going to use the stock bulky bumpers. These lights would actually fit in the bumper hole and would mount like the bumper would. :P

I am planning on putting bumperettes on the car but in this position leaving the bumper holes open for use.

Another way to fit it:

I´ve used a pair of New Mini spot ligths and i´ve instaled them in the front grille. The screw is attached not only to the stainless piece, I´ve donde a hole in the car steel to be avoid vibrations. The result is fantastic and very cheap, the ligths were bougth by Ebay and are copies of the original.

Also the front grille was painted in silver. 2$ spray and fantastic results...

Some details of the process.

The hole in the front pannel:

Detail of the fitting in the grille cover. This cover mut be mounted befor fitting the lights.

And the light once instaled in the car. The hood came very (VERY) close to the light when open, but it opens perfectly.
