You know that old saying " they don't build things like they used to" well holy crap "they" are correct

Could not get the nut off to save my life, then it moved but it was just stripped SOB. Let the cutting begin



Got 3 out of 4 bolts out arggggggggggggghhhhh



The control arms on the other hand were in desperate need of replacement.

@ westy64 I have not tried yet (cleaning/painting the sway bar) however, in retrospect I should have put the bushings on the bar then add the mounts
hopefully with enough grease/lube they should go on without any issues

@PininF I have heard of people using storage places. Where are you located? Where do you park/store your car?

Only just got this car, will be moving next year so till then my baby will be in the drive way under a cover for the winter
Will be posting pics of total restoration soon, the roof is already off so is the hole front under carriage for complete replacement. What have we gotten ourselves into Couldn't be happier

I have to laugh out loud, because when this is all said & done, I still have the passenger side to do

b) knew how to weld/torch
C) had easier projects to tackle

Too bad about the lack of welding stuff. Great candidate for the welded nut trick.

Broken stud in the manifold


Place nut over broken stud


Weld stud to nut.



After a bit of cooling, carfully back and forth to loosen nut


Might take a couple of attemps, but does work

Have all new upper and lower control arms for both sides ready and waiting however, I still needed the brake shield and steering knuckle

Will be tackling the same job next year.

Quick question:

What jack points did you use to keep the car up?

I usually put stands beneath the suspension points, but, obviously, if you pull the suspension apart, the jack points go, too.

When I first started (last year) I did not use the correct places however, quickly put in correct locations and no damage done. Here are some good links

No need to say to be very careful pulling and pushing on things when the car is up on the stands...... It is easy to forget.

I also recommend some solid blocks/tires on rims, etc just in case
