New Radio Location Idea

No joy on the back of the old radio idea, there's just not enough room with the heater still in place. So, now I'm thinking I'll mount the radio up under the passenger's side dash board, just behind the glovebox, in the top of the footwell. That being said, I'm not sure what to mount it to. I started another thread here http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19857 to see if there's any conflict with where I'm thinking. Just FYI, I plan on using the remote to control the head unit. If you have any thoughts I'd appreciate them.

I agree with a previous reply with using a 3.5 mm adapter amp hooked direct to a 5 channel amp and utilize an iPod/MP3 player or even better a smart phone running Pandora.

I can't remember the last I played a CD in a vehicle or turned it on radio. I have Pandora to make my own music stations and now that 99% of radio stations stream their content you can get the "TunedIn" free app and listen to any station in the country. My phone has built in 32 gig of memory, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and before this a Motorola Droid X with 16 gig internal and a 128 gig extended. Most songs are about 4-6 meg. At 6 meg that comes out to 170 songs per gig, so you can rip a CD with Itunes or whatever and put them on the phone as an mp3 player.

What is also nice with using a smart phone hooked through this way is you GPS voice comes through the car speakers as well as phone calls.

I actually used a Motorola Xoom in the dash of my wife's 66 Chevy Sport van. Has everything she could need built into one unit and looks cool besides!
