Re: 1978 rolling restoration
Got a complete factory electronic ignition today (thanks george) needs cleaned up but I have already ordered all the new pieces (pick-up, ign mod, cap, rotor & wires) to make sure its up to snuff once I get it installed.
If I need to replace the coil from the elect. ign. what would you all suggest, stock, blue, accell, blaster or what?
Oh & I got a factory oil pressure gauge that swings from the bottom like all the other gauges in my car, thanks Jaime.
Do we know if the factory pressure sender off a 70's car will work with this gauge (think it's a 83) I see different one available at the vendors, are they the same with just different plug in or do they have different resistance values?

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
Awesome write-up Don. Thanks for all the photos and and links. Just purchased my little girl this week, already fixed the gangster seat, pulled the bumpers and made plans for the rest of the restore. Just wish I had a nice garage to work out of... lol. Keep the pics and posts coming!

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
Well it was a nice day in north Idaho....took my girl out today for her first outing this year!
About 60 deg today had to drive the car to work, no green grass yet, still have piles of snow here & there but the top is down.
On another note I got my new gunmetal Rota's ordered yesterday, spoiler & front markers too, thanks Mark.
Also received all my engine parts the other day too, all new belts & hoses & electronics.
I'm getting quite the pile-o-parts can't wait till it gets nice everyday!

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
Got my new Rotas today, gunmetal 15x7, YEA! & a new front spoiler & front marker lights.
Still waiting on the bumperettes & need to buy tires but the spending is ending & the fixin' is now beginning.
I just need the weather to get & stay a little warmer.
Should be getting Falken Ziex ZE-512, 205/50-15's this weekend, fingers crossed life doesn't get in the way..hahaha
Look like they sit flush with the fender lip with the spacers still installed.
Do I really need to remove the spacers to run these wheels or can I keep them for the added width if the clearance is there???

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
First day of spring!!! Woke up to 1" of snow (melted by lunchtime) sunny by noon & raining like a b*tch now.
Gotta love North Idaho - 4 seasons.....sometimes every day!
Also today, first day of spring, is Fiona & my 1 YEAR anniversary....bought her 1 year ago TODAY!
She's changed a bit but I think I'm still the same.

Hello Don, why did you pull the roll bar out ? I think it looks good along with your seats.

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
I originally was going to keep the roll bar but once I removed it I liked the look better without it & with the tall seats I bought I think it may touch the headrest part when reclined like I like (seats are a tight fit). Also made building my rear seat storage/package shelf a lot easier without it.
It's a real nice roll bar, braces come from the top tube (not side tube) down to the wheel wells without having to cut the side panels, it seems to stand a bit more straight up & down than like the autopower one & looks like it may be just a bit taller too.
Still on the fence about putting it in in the future or selling it (have an interested party already) I always had it in my plans before I bought my car that I would want a roll bar, but that classic convertable look is growing on me, even to the point of planning to redo the stock lowback seats in the future & lose the tall buckets I just put in.

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
If the interested party falls through and you decide to sell it, put me on the list. If I could get some good plans together for one I could have one built. I believe the wife would ride more if I had one. The car looks great. You have done a good job.

Re: 1978 rolling restoration
There still may be snow on the ground but she's got her new shoes on.
They are the gunmetal Rotas with 205/50 Falken tires.
Love the way the 15" rims look & the stance with the wider wheels & tires
Quite a change from the old BWA's,
Just a wee bit more rubber on the ground, almost an inch wider tread.
