Where's your antenna?
Where's your antenna?
So far, mine is the only one i've seen around that has an abnormally long antenna on the left rear top of the fender. Where are everybody else's antennas located on their car?
Re: Where's your antenna?
that's the standard point for them. there are some nice aftermarket ones, i've seen pix of one that runs really neatly up along the passenger side post of the windshield.

Re: Where's your antenna?
My car never, ever had a radio and I never missed it. I love to hear the sound of the motor.
Hirshman, never heard of that brand. Is it an American product or did it change it's name when it came fresh of the boat from the old world?

I welded up the hole on the rear fender. If you decide to do the same. Be careful, that area warps very easily.
I'm going with this one to fit under the dash.

Re: Where's your antenna?
The Spider 2000 came with factory wireing for a power antenna to mount where yours is, or at least on the driver's side rear fender. It's nice to have the power unit so you don't have to be concerned about JDs bending them or breaking them off when you park the car. It also makes it easier to fit a car cover. It's really simple to wire up.

Brady,
Thanks for the link. I filled the hole on the right front fender but wasn't sure if there were any hidden options.

Re: Where's your antenna?
My '74 had the antenna on the front right fender near the windscreen, but I had to remove it as it was in the line of sight when I converted to RHD. I didn't want to drill back into the body so I use a discreet antenna which adheres to the inside of the windscreen behind the interior mirror and I have used steel pins to hold the cable to the inner rubber windscreen seal and run the cable down the passenger side and through the gap between the dashboard and the frame.

Mine is on the rear fender...but quite close to the top. You can just make it out in this pic.

Re: Where's your antenna?
Mine's exactly where yours is, but it's really thin, black, and straight up and down. I wouldn't say it's abnormally long for an antenna of its age, but it does give the car a toy-like appearance resembling a remote controlled car or something. I personally really like it.
Re: Where's your antenna?
Yes, one of those antennas from the old days. One of those coil spring bases with a 6' chrome CB antenna sticking up the rear bumper would be quite fitting. Like from Radio Shack. That'd make your car look like an RCRacer
Re: Where's your antenna?
I am going with the under dash one from the Tune Trapper:

Saves drilling a hole in my new paint job.
I hope it works.

That's the one I was going to buy. You'll have it on first. Please let us know how it works. I won't have my car on the road till next year.
