I have a questions. Are most of you still running the intermediate muffler in your exhaust systems? How about the converter? I'm running a Ansa Muffler, stock intermediate muffler and converter on a Spider 2000. The sound is not bad, but I'm looking at eliminating the intermediate muffler and possibly the converter. Like always, I value the advise from this forum. Thanks.

Re: Exhaust system
Try just removing the cat first. The resonator which your calling the intermediate muffler give the deep raspy sound you hear. Just running the muffler might be too loud on highways. Just a thought.
Re: Exhaust system
Thanks for that response. I did not realize that the resonator is providing that deep sound. That is exactly the sound that I want to hear. I would have been disappointed if I had removed it.

Re: Exhaust system
if you just want sound, remove the cat. If you're looking for a performance boost you really need a larger, free flow system
Re: Exhaust system
I removed the cat, and both mufflers. My exhaust man put in a free-flow small Thrush type muffler where the cat used to be and a larger pipe all the way back connecting to twin chrome Borla tips off a new Porsche. ( sacrilegious, I know) At first, I thought it would be too loud and lose that throaty sound but not at all. Its louder all right but sounds a lot meaner than it really is, especially when you let off the gas between shifts. I'm very pleased.

Re: Exhaust system
Can you make a short video and post on youtube? I have a header into 2 1/4 pipe back to a cheap dual tip muffler at the rear and my car is too loud for my wife (which is not always a bad thing). It sounds great for short drives but is too loud for drives over 50 miles.eddy314 wrote:I removed the cat, and both mufflers. Re: Exhaust system
How does it sound on highways Courtenay? I am planning on installing Mark's header back to a Magnaflow muffler. I was wondering if I need the resonator. I want it to sound nice but not like headers on a motorcycle.
Re: Exhaust system
mark, I read your catalog page, didn't see anywhere it did or did not say if I could use your exhaust on a FI motor?
brady,Have bought one of marks exhaust yet? if so how are you liking it?

Re: Exhaust system
the header and exhaust works well with FI, we've put several on FI cars. As with any perf exhaust, a couple of minor mods have to be made but it's a pretty simple installation overall
Re: Exhaust system
thanks for the quick reply mark i will be getting one after the first of the year. not sure I am ready to give up my vinyl dash yet though. have to do a lot more thinking about that one.
