Searching out Reliable Body Repair
Could someone give me advice on searching out the right body shop. Car has some rust repair over headlights, some wheel well issues, rocker panel welding, underskin of rocker panel will probably need replacing and overall paint work? Just want to make sure I get quality work. Thank You.

Re: Searching out Reliable Body Repair
Being how I just smashed up the front end of my spider, and because I have nothing more important to me, I took it upon myself to do my own body work, I get the quality I want at the price I want it.
I'm sure you didn't want to hear that, and I'm sure that's not really an answer, and you might not have the tools I have at your disposal but being a Fiat owner, isn't doing it yourself the best part....?

Wish I could do it myself, not that talented. I live in Moorhead Minnesota, across the river from the infamous Fargo ND. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I can't find your pic's, they're not dated 9-6 or even close. Send me the link in a pm. Or email me to my email below my signature.

Re: Searching out Reliable Body Repair
Its not about talent lol, its love, thus patience and a hammer. But judging by the link Nancy posted, the pic's tell me that take some work. If you were in Morehead KY , not moorhead MN, Id be happy to help.mik wrote:Wish I could do it myself, not that talented.
But from what I know/experienced stay away from body shops where their main work load in insurance work, it is typically overpriced, time consuming, and quality work i could have done myself. It was like they just took the car, let it set for 2 months, then one day said "lets get this thing out of here", took an hour and made it look "OK" and then called me to pick it up. (I'm sure this is not the case in every shop with insurance work but....)
So that left me hunting for a small time body shop with experience. Lucky for me, a guy at my church just so happen to run one, he showed me some tricks, walked me along some stuff and now I take care of all of the body work myself. Maybe start looking at your church for a experienced body man...
But beyond that all I can tell you is do it like anything you plan to spend money, on get some bids, and tell them what your looking for, if its going to be a show car or like a summer car. And ask to see some of the work, if you can.
Hope that helps more than my original response. Good luck!
