Reattaching 72 Spider Badge on Honeycomb Grille...

So I got the bumpers back on after Dremeling out all the body filler in the hole slots, touching up the metal. I blacked out the grille and I found a large emblem with 2 prongs that fits through an aluminum backing plate which I assume attaches to the grille somehow. I don't have any of the right hardware. It's definitely not attached with a screw, there must be some sort of clip. Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I crazy? You don't have to answer the latter part of that question

I think AutoRicambi or some of the other online vendors have badge clips. Can be metal or plastic. The other option is to use some Sikaflex/glue/silicon.

Hmm. are those prongs threaded? I bought a front grill emblem last year and I thought they were threaded and there is a backing plate for the studs/prongs to go through and a nut to hold in place.
If not , as the previous post said AutoRicambi has thost hard to find clips and bits.

On the honeycomb grills the badge attaches with nuts. The posts on the back of you emblem that go through the emblem housing need to be long enough to reach the other side of the grill. Then its just some washers and nuts and its in.

You also need a little strip of metal with holes for the badge studs to go through to keep the nuts from falling through the honeycomb grille holes.

Woah, sorry I haven't been around, Petit LeMans + Autocross (with the XR4Ti) kept me busy this weekend. The badge has 2 studs protruding through the aluminum backing plate, but they are not threaded, they do have indentation grooves on them with a tapered point, that's why I asked about some sort of plate, it looks much more like some sort of clip goes on and retains it in place. It seems you've got an emblem from a later model car. The early model grille emblem has long threaded studs that go through two other surrounds before going through the grille, then gets attached with 6mm nuts. (I know, I know, you nitpickers. I don't have mine centered perfectly, but remember, the grille is in your lap when you're installing the emblem and it doesn't actually get centered on the grille):

Nope, I have EXACTLY that emblem, but it's missing what looks like a black rubber piece between the badge and the aluminum? I swear the two studs aren't threaded, I'll see if I can get a picture up tonight.

That's a newer emblem. You will have a heck of a time finding the emblem with the long threaded studs. I doubt any of the vendors have them any more so you'll have to find a way to work with what you have. Those studs are too short to go throught the grille.

The center part of the emblem looks like one that fits the hood or trunk. They have the same style prongs where there is a plastic clip that goes over the individual ends.
If I goto the shop tomorow I'll take a look and see what I have that would be the proper emblem with the longer threded studs.

The new ones that we have are just long enough to put on your grill. I did it on a car at the shop for restoration about 2 weeks ago. They do have a different stud size from original though, but I got them on.
