1984 Pinin seats: leather/vinyl combo?
1984 Pinin seats: leather/vinyl combo?
Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing on tan 1984 Pininfarina Spider seats: the center panels appear to be leather, while the side and rear panels are vinyl. Was this the norm? It seems the door interior panels are vinyl as well.
Re: 1984 Pinin seats: leather/vinyl combo?
Well I have a1984 Pininfarina Spider and it has the black leather on the seat base and the vinyl on the sides and rear.
My car came from California but because it has some European Spec items I'm not sure if it originated in Europe and shipped to USA.
Anybody know how I might track this ?
Well the leather is pretty shot and very hard and split, probably from the intense sun. I'm about to retrim all my seats but I've decided to do the lot in leather. Not much of a cost difference so why not.
My door panels are quite good so I'll leave them as is for now.

Are you having the leather covers made, or buying the ones that are available? I want to have a go at restoring, just because the kit is not expensive, and I like to try something new (not keen on spending more for leather covers than the purchase price of the car, either!).
The vinyl bits, as well as the vinyl door panels, are in good shape.
