Carpet/Carpet Padding to Dynamat
Carpet/Carpet Padding to Dynamat
I have finaaly finished repairing the floorpans on my '81 2000 FI. Not too bad but had the potential to get a lot worse. I installed DynaMat throughout. Just received a cheesy carpet set that I bought off ebay (you do get what you pay for). Question is what type of adhesive should I use to secure the carpet and, in this case, some pieces of carpet with carpet padding to the DynaMax. I hate carpet that slides all over the place. Nothing is more annoying.

I used spray adhesive, there are different strengths, the stuff sold for headliners is the strongest.

Re: Carpet/Carpet Padding to Dynamat
When I replaced my carpets I wasn't sure I wanted to have them glued to the surface, but I also didn't want to slide around. I did use adhesive on the more upright surfaces but used double sided carpet tape in a number of other spots to hold the carpet down yet be very easy to remove. Just a thought.

This is the same method I used and I am happy with the results.
Re: Carpet/Carpet Padding to Dynamat
I used 3M spray adhesive I picked up at Sears Hardware and also used hook and loop velcro in some places to make removing the carpet easier to access any wire.
Re: Carpet/Carpet Padding to Dynamat
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to use all three methods (spray adhesive, velcro and carpet tape) to secure the 10 pieces depending on the location of the piece.
