ideas for turnsignals after bumper removal
Re: ideas for turnsignals after bumper removal
Anyone ever cut holes for the turn signals from the earlier models and used those?

Re: ideas for turnsignals after bumper removal
I've considered doing this on my '79. Cutting the holes wouldn't be such a tough prospect, except that the existing holes would overlap, leaving a rectangular cutout directly beneath the early-style turn signal. If the existing hole was further down, so as to leave a gap between the signal and the hole, it would work better -- and emulate the Abarth style brake ducts. As it is, I don't think it would look right without the existing hole being welded up and painted, which makes it a much more involved and expensive project.

That's what I figured. I kept looking at the holes in my bumper and thinking there would likely be overlap. If I were going to do this, I would also be removing the side reflectors and having those filled & painted as well, so there would be a lot of filling/welding going on altogether.RJ80 wrote:I've considered doing this on my '79. I wonder how tough it is to just find a front clip from one of the earlier models?

That Ebay kit doesn't look that hard to fabricate possibly out of some sort of plastic or even aluminum . it would take a little thought and some fabrication skills.

hey man... where i live, sometimes i wish i had deer whistlers... the sound of Ansas at 6500 rpm seems to keep the wildlife at bay.

This is how I treated the bumpless look. I get mixed reviews.
Re: ideas for turnsignals after bumper removal
Hi there,
A while ago I removed the bumpers on my 1978 124 spyder . If you look at the thread "Hi from Melbourne" on this forum you will see what I ended up using (note indicators are not 124).
The other option I explored is fitting the front bumper from a 850 sports coupe . These have the indicators fitted on the bumper and with some small modifications did fit. It also has the benifit of hiding the holes from the bumpers etc.
Hope this helps
Danny
