Ok When you get ramped up let me know where to place my order....oh yeah I got to find a nice big bubble hood first.
Wonder how it would look on the small bubble one?

Can someone explain this a little more thoroughly? I see clips on the blinkers, no clamps. Or is that what he is referring to? If that's the case, how will they mount?

No idea, he must have had his head on crooked when he put things on his car.
Actually, mine on the same side is crooked as well. The problem is that it can't be bent, or forced into a straighter position because the brackets are molded into fiberglass. Otherwise, you risk screwing up the whole bonnet.

As they say, nothing is perfect and I've learned to live with it.

How are those installed? Any chance that a shim could be used to straighten them? I am still undecided as to what to go with (early styled chromed bumpers or the Abarth )

It is a flat piece of steel (with two holes) molded into fiberglass. You basically slide it into the shock hole and use the existing bolts from the circular tube from the rear bumper to tighten it down. And another problem exists because it's the driver's side bonnet that is crooked, and you are dealing with a fuel cell. There is not a lot of room to work behind there to begin with, unless you want to COMPLETELY R&R the fuel cell which in my opinion is nothing but a pain in the arse. So if you are looking to use a spacer or shim, I wish you the best of luck. A spacer wouldn't work anyway, because it needs to be adjusted horizontally from top to bottom, not left to right. If you can't picture this, I'll take some pics and post again.

When I have some time, I may pull mine back out and see if I can straighten it by tweaking the bar only. Maybe I can put the flat piece of steel in a vise and tweak the very end of it (slight bend), without risking damage to the bonnet. The problem is that there is not much room to work with it. The bar isn't real long so I will try and be creative if possible.

In the alternative, if you are looking to use the early style bumpers they are very nice looking. However, if you are concerned about weight they may not be a good choice.

Well, I'll be embarrassed to admit that these lights do NOT work. I ordered a pair of VW Golf 3 turn signals and after removing all the plastic clips and taking my Dremel to shave even more plastic, these will not and NEVER fit. I wasted $50.00, an hour of my time, and it just really pisses me off that people do not post the correct information.

So for everyone else, DO NOT BUY THESE BLINKERS. THEY WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU WANT TO START CUTTING THE METAL OF YOUR CAR!

I ordered a pair of VW Golf 3 turn signals and after removing all the plastic clips and taking my Dremel to shave even more plastic, these will not and NEVER fit. I wasted $50.00, an hour of my time, and it just really pisses me off that people do not post the correct information.

So for everyone else, DO NOT BUY THESE BLINKERS. THEY WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU WANT TO START CUTTING THE METAL OF YOUR CAR!

And I talked to a guy in Germany that uses this blinker and fits extremely well. It is from an 82 Mitsubishi Colt, Stanley Part #: 046-8301L and I would assume the right blinker would be the same number with an R after it.

Anyway, does anyone have a junk yard with Dodge, Chrsler, and Mitsubishi Cars? Anyone want to check it out? There are none in my area.

Doc: that sucks you spent all that time and cash. :cry:

But before you go do it again with those DSM signals: you sure that's what you want on your car? Those look just plain GOOFY to me. To each his own... but if you're looking at them "'cuz at least they fit".... and you're on the rebound from the ones that didn't.... maybe I can be the doctor for a minute and tell you to take a one-week breather and look at it very closely..... :wink:
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Do you have pictures of the problem your running into installing the VW lights. Was going to try a pair but would like to know what specif issues you are having. Brian

That sucks! I almost bought a pair myself after reading the post on the car with them in Germany. Are they just way too big?

Yah well matag, life goes on. As far as being on the "blinker rebound" (lol), I actually saw these lights a couple of years ago by a guy names HW on eBay. I never got them because they seem to be very difficult to obtain. And as far as looking goofy? Well, maybe from the side they look a "little" off, but from the front they actually look good. If you have a better idea and solution, I'm listening. :?

SLOSpider: No pictures, not worth any more of my time. As I stated previously, I removed all four plastic clips and it still didn't fit. So I thought, well maybe the inside of the blinkers need to be trimmed a little so I got my Dremel and started grinding the plastic away. Well, it got to the point where I went through the grey plastic, then started grinding into the amber lens on the inside of the light. It STILL didn't fit. So in the garbage they went.

If anyone needs a driver's side VW Golf 3 Turn Signal, let me know. I'll give it AWAY and you pay the shipping. This one still has all the plastic clips.

1993-1999 VW Golf 3 turn signals DO NOT WORK for a 81 Fiat Spider, and whoever stated they did is surely high on CRACK! :shock:
