Trunk Height Adjustment

I am currently re-assembling my 81 Fi and have found the trunk lid to be quite high at the hinge points. This causes the entire trunk to sit higher than preferred. I cannot see any way of adjusting the hinge height and the other adjustments do not improve the look. I need to lower the lid by about 3/32" or more. Before restoration I never noticed this as the car was battered up and dull paint. Any ideas? If I had caught this prior to paint I could have done something physical to it.

I know the lid is bolted to the hinges,but how is the hinge attatched to the body? if bolted a couple of washers there to lower?
Mask the area off and grind a bit on both hinge and lid?

The hinges are welded... not enough to grind off already thought of that.... dumb design really
