Thanks Brady, your right the dimensions will be different depending on where you put them. I'm still interested in seeing how yours turn out. Keep us posted.

Hey Kingme.. Yes things def cost what they cost.. Big tool boxes when mass produced go for $100 to $500
If you want a one of a kind custom one hand made. $2000 if fair. But does anyone want a custom hand made one of a kind tool box ? who knows ? But as you enter the tool box business youll have to decide if you want to offer a lower price point.. Using oak or pine maybe. Using less curves / style features. And cutting every part in assembly line fashion.. Throw the parts in a box with a baggie of screws. and let the customer assemble.. Like walmart does. then your price point is right on the money. You can make tennis balls out of gold if you want too. .. but that doesnt make it a good idea. Im sure there is a high end custom furniture market. You just have to find your buyers.
People allergic to metal.
People who are rich and are handy.
Do you think Jay Leno has a crappy metal toolbox ? I dunno good question though. I wish I were that handy. If I were you I would make the dash kits for fiats and sell them. You can cut that pattern quickly and sell exotic woods. Not much wood needed either.
