Did it last week. You need to take out the entire vent window frame in order to replace the seals.

Take out the outside window scrappers.
Remove the inside door handles and panel.
Remove two bolts on top of the inside door close to the vent window.
Remove a lower nut in the bottom of the door. It hols the vertical felt of the window.
Pull out the vent frame. It may be hard but you can tell there is nothing holding it except metal to metal friction.
With the vent frame out, remove the lower bolt and pressure spring on the bottom of the vent window.
Take out the vent window and replace the seal.
Lubricate everything inside the door area.
Put everything back together.

Grab a cold beer because is easy but take a little time.

Thanks so much... I had the doors completely taken apart but was not sure if it was that simple or I had to drill the rivets to get the vent window out. I will now finish the restoration knowing this little bit of missing info. Thanks again... Jim

I am guessing it is a perfect time to replace those rail felts as well. While in there...

yep! totally true. In fact I am replacing everything that even hints of rubber or plastic on this car. I got this one a couple of months ago while at my Vegas home and drove it North to wet BC Canada where it is being restored. So the desert heat dried everything out while stored for ten years. Also, I have noticed that the majority of rubber seals I have purchased are not the same dimensions of the originals. The felt window seal is much smaller and I got two sets due to this. One from IAP and the other from a European vendor and both identical (to small)!! The trunk seal is taller and makes my trunk to high and so on.... $800 spent on rubber and half not correct!

Look closely at the felt chanel as installed in the window guide channel. The exposed section is faded and weathered, while the section that was hidden down in the door is still dark black and not degraded. Drill out the pop rivet and flip the channel.

Regarding the vent window seals, your best bet is to find a good condition set of originals from a parts car.

Excellent suggestion except mine is a desert car and everything rubber is rotted..... Unfortunately! However this would help my friends car which is in a humid climate.
