Hi guys,
do you know if anyone makes a double hoop "Miata" style Roll bar for teh 124 Spider?
I have seen the single bar but I haven't come across any doubles.
Thanks

Ohhh! I thought the same before. Just to much to do to think of making one.
Re: Double hoop Roll bar
I have also been looking for double loop roll bar for fiat, haven’t found one yet and ones to convert are Miata and BMW but they are all short and to narrow and would rather have a bar smaller than 2 1/4 inch, on my car I have it figured out because I am taking out the back seat but I did come across this , http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche- ... ccessories , I didn’t get the dimensions but they might be close enough.
Re: Double hoop Roll bar
Hi Ken,
I had a look and even if the dimensions are wrong, a good metal shop could fit it. Its a great starting point. Now I just need to find one in Canada or else truck freight costs will be crazy high.

Re: Double hoop Roll bar
Hi Peter,
They do have one. It's going to need extensive modification to fit the car. I am thinking of getting a cheap used single roll bar thats made for the 124 so that the base is in the correct position then chopping off the legs of the Porsche bar and welding it to the legs of the Fiat bar....thoughts?
BTW, where do you get your work done in Ottawa? I have to do teh timing belt on the car and don't want to mess it up as its pretty improtant to get it right.
Thanks
Rob

Re: Double hoop Roll bar
Roberto - I do all of my own work, but I used Frank's Auto on Norman St years ago for a transmission rebuild and a new differential. Delio and Giovanni are good guys, but a little pricy for the easy stuff. There's another active thread here right now on how to change a timing belt - it's pretty straightforward, especially on a '78. For the roll bar, you might want to get the Porsche bar and have someone complete the job without buying the "cheap used" Fiat bar. I suggest Ed Crilly or Stu Trudel - the go-to guys for roll cages in the city.

Re: Double hoop Roll bar
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the info. I will read up on the timing belt, I am pretty sure I can handle that.
Could you provide contact info for the roll cage guys?
Thanks so much

Re: Double hoop Roll bar
Roberto - It may depend on where you live, as to which guy you choose. Ed Crilly is just off the Carp Rd, at 159 Tansley Rd, 613-831-9176. Stu Trudel is in Cumberland, at 1075 Barnet, 613-833-5482. If they're interested and available to do the work, they'll need to have the car there. So you might want to drop in on them first without the car (due to snow and salt), to explain what you need and gauge their interest and price, as well as get a few suggestions. They've both done work for me and they're excellent guys.
