the front end of my Spider looks like it is on stilts..pulled the engine and transmission this weekend with the help of POPE and Lee Putman and a few others (many cheerleaders). Even though it was a skin cracking 9°F outside, my heaters got the garage to above 60°F inside. we eventually peeled back to shirt sleeves for the afternoon's adventures. even the timid requested i shut of the heat sources for a spell.
my friend with the desire to buy a Spider was there to watch and learn. and, even after we were done... he still wants a Spider. I guess he REALLY got burned with the MGB experience.
also pulled the dashboard. YIKES

Musta been the beginning of the week in Turin when they hit my car's wiring.. i think i could gain about 50# in weight reduction just by shortening all those wires...eee gads!
top of the cross member showed significant rubbing, even though the engine mounts did not look extensively distorted, or the bottom of the oil pan still had a full set of paint. hmm.. pull the tranny from the engine and WHAT??

the bottom two tranny mounting bolts are missing??? one of the starter bolts is snapped off INSIDE the bell housing hole?? and the machine screw at the front of the starter is also missing??
any one wanna say YA-YA-YIKES ??
