Michigan Short Shifter

This sounds like a very interesting/simple mod! I'd deffinatly like to know the pricing on one of these.. I won't be needing one for a lil while now since my car isent even roadworthy atm but I'll deffinatly have to get one. Send me a PM with the price if you get a chance!

Just today I received my second short shifter from Mike. Top notch quality and super simple to install. Very elegant solution and design with immediate shipping. 10 out of 10. Also, feels really sweet when driving the mountains.

BTW, I added the lock nut on mine because of the "FIAT" script on my knob. It's there to keep the script squared away.

Okay Ron, thanks for the pics. I just got a hold of Mike. And for everyone else looking for info., the cost of the shifter is $35.00 which I think is EXTREMELY reasonable. I have been looking to modify this LONG shifter for over two years and now I can't wait to receive this beauty.

Ishtvan47, sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I work away from home during the week. The shift knob was on my car when I got it. It was a yellowish/blonde color that I didn't like so I sanded it down and stained it.

Just installed the MSS and love it already! The shifter now "falls readily to hand" as they used to say. Installation was a piece of cake, the hardest part for me was removing the wood plate on the console. I'm not sure that step was really needed as I had plenty of working room. Test drive showed that the shifting was crisper, throws were shorter and it looks good too!
Not to mention that I'm getting better gas mileage, the car handles better then ever and my shirts are whiter!!
Great product Mike. I can't say enough good about it.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I ignored Mike's installation instructions. No tugging, no falling into the back seat, and I didn't even have to curse or learn Italian.

I did not move the wood panel. Instead, I gently pushed the shifter boot off the end of the extension.


Once the plastic clip was pried out, the shifter slid right off.


The rest of the parts were easily removed.


Ready for installation!

ishtvan47, I have the same shift knob as Rlux4. Got it at Vick's auto and it fits the MSS beautifully.

I put a little lock tight on the knob and tighten her down. Once the knob was tight, turned it straight and set the screws on the MSS. Pushed the wood center console back into place and it's all done.
