HD STREET PERFORMANCE CLUTCH-FIRST LOOK

We now have a hd street clutch for the Spiders and 131s. The disc has a much beefier center with hd springs and hub. The pressure plate has an extra 20lbs of pressure and hd straps on the plate. The extra pressure is enough for a performance motor without increasing pedal pressure much.
ALL PARTS MADE IN THE USA!

Here is a picture of the disk. The paint wasn't dry on the pressure plate, so pix of that won't be available for another day.
The disk and pressure plate will sell for $249 and can be used on the stock flywheel.



Race clutch assy also available in a 4 puck ceramic material.

Im not a math genius especially when I dont even know how many lbs the original clutch pressures. Just a few questions. So this new clutch has 20lbs more pressure than an original? how many lbs does an original have? The 4 puck ceramic disc sounds pretty decent too. Do you know anything about the chatter effect of the four puck being its pretty aggressive and the car is pretty light. I'm kinda looking for an answer like. Jeff, this ceramic clutch would just suck in rush hour if you had to use it every day. Or Jeff, this ceramic clutch is nice and smooth and works great under most applications. Mark, I just wanna pick your brain on this thats all because being I have a header, cams, 44idf's, etc. my stock clutch passed away recently and I need to replace it with something much better this winter. It was probably original too for all i know. Thanks for your input

the oem pressure plate has about 45 lbs of pressure, the new street perf cover has 65 lbs. The ceramic puck disc would be a little harsh for street use, hence the street perf disc in the pic uses standard friction material with a much beefier hub design. The 4 puck ceramic disc is designed for road racing.
I've talked to lots of clutch mfgs over the past two years, and none were really interested in making a clutch specifically for the 124s. They wanted us to use something they already made and adapt it, or go to a unit like the Tilton with a custom flywheel (pretty expensive for the owner with a few perf upgrades).
From my research, this is the only upgraded Fiat clutch on the market, and not much more expensive than a stock unit

Very nice, Mark. I can attest to the fact that performance clutches are quite expensive. I've been down that road twice, and each trip cost me around $800. I may be looking closer at your race clutch in the near future.

That wouldn't be a used cover plate would it? Looks like there is wear on the spring fingers from the throw out bearing.

that cover is remanufactured. We needed a prototype to determine pressures, heat treating, etc

How does this compare to having the outer part of the flywheel cut down an extra 0.020? Can I run this on my lightened flywheel or will it cause too much flex and crack my flywheel?

lightening the flywheel can't be compared to a performance clutch, they are two different things. As for breaking your flywheel, if you lighten it too much it will break with any clutch. If you really want a light unit, use an aluminum flywheel
