The new dash. Not 100 % complete, still to add chrome gauge rings, lock for glovebox, perhaps a bit more bevels... All the wood is African Paduak. Dash is true 1" thick, curved in a bit for the center gauges.




All the indicator lights moved here. Fudged the bottom angle so I can SEE what's lit up.




Mich. Short Shifter, with turned knob, and new base plate. Ashtray was modded into a coin tray, and had a custom veneer added. Needs another laquer on the new power-knob



Had the console pieces wrapped in leather, then rewired the wiper knobs away from the dash.




Tomorrow... Pick it up from Costco, new BFGoodrich 205/50R15's onto my new gunmetal & chrome Rotas... happytimes

Solid piece of Padauk. Nice! I believe that's the original color. I was looking at some Padauk Veneer. Did you make those ships in the background? Looks pretty intricate.

Very nice work! Your indicator and wiper/light knob placement seams natural and in the right places. I'm thinking about a Koa wood dash. Koa is a local Hawaiian tropical hardwood. I guess "tropical" is already implied.

Kingme, that looks real good. Its funny, Im kinda workin on something real similar but using teak. Ive eliminated the glove box door. Im gonna make a drop down door like the early x. I was wondering what I could do with those center lights. You came up with some pretty good ideas for them. We test fitted the wood to my new dash the other day, and it still needed some adjustments.

yeah, I made 3 out of pine before I was content with the fit. I'll give the fit a 97%... as good as I'm ever likely to do

I had a really cool idea for the mounting, but got in a hurry and only did half...

Did you note that there are no mounting screws/bolts on the side dash that I removed the indicators from? I went to Lee Valley Tools, bought some rare eath magnets. Was originally going to do the whole dash that way, lol, but wanted to get it out on the road quickly for the drive to work the next day...

My friend and I discussed a way to mount it without any attachments showing, Unfortunatly eo already had the four holes drilled on the drivers side. The other mountings will be invisable. The next one we make will be totally void of visable attachments.
