Paint Ideas?
Paint Ideas?
So I decided to do a bit of a custom job on the interior. It's a Black and beige contrast that screams more of a "Pimp my Ride" than a nice Italian car. Once I have it all installed I'll send some pictures of course. The question I have now is what color do I paint it. I'm thinking I want a racing strip or an accent right along the body all the way down.
One of my friends recommended I get a two-tone paint job, but to be honest, I don't know that I want it to pop THAT much .....So? Any photoshop ideas? Pictures? HELP?!?!
Warm New England weather around the corner is getting me ready for the "Fixin' Season" (No garage). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
((Oh...... and BTW it's a 79' spider dark blue right now. It'll end up having a beige buckskin top once I get the floor pans welded in.))

Is it a pimp my ride motif that you are after?
With that interior combination black on the outside is always a good choice but the body needs to be straight to look good in black. Dark green is also ok. You could then set it all off with a set of decent 15" wheels, with polished (not chromed) rims and black centers that would be both striking and tasteful. Then again, if "pimping your ride" and bling is the desired effect, there are hundreds of ways to achieve that too. Just look for the loudest contrast possible, bright yellow for example, orange, whatever and chrome everything...
Seriously, color is a personal choice really. Have you looked through any magazines?
Cheers
Joe

Joe!!!
Thanks for the input! Now you've got me thinking. As for looking through magazines, I'm trying to hold off. I know once I see something I'll have it stuck in my head and I'm afraid it'll ruin the fun of trying to envision it. I can't say I want the "pimp my ride" effect really, but something that pops a little would definitely be nice. The polished rims are a nice touch with the black insets. Yeah....black paintjob....definitely thought about it, but not sure well.......maybe with a white racing stripe offset from center or dead center? Or two?!?!?! Maybe three?!?! <-- kidding of course.
I also neglected to mention that the seat material is a faux(sp?) Leather if that makes any kind of difference.
Thanks again for the input! Waiting with baited breath for more ideas!

Bluedog,
here a picture taken from my website of one of my brother's customers. They don't show the interior as it is an ad for wheels and brakes but he's got a black/beige combo that looks really sharp. It's tough to make that Fiat beige exterior look appealing but he has done a good job of it. I'll see if I can find more pics.
In the mean time just scroll down:

Joe,
Thanks for the link! The wheels first of all are really sharp. Looking more and more at the beige, I'm really starting to feel a black finish with white or beige hairline accents along the bends of the side body and a stripe down the center. Still out for debate on that one, but those wheels.....man!......the site just made it on my Fiat Favorites in Explorer!!!

HAHA!!!! Spidernut.......that's exactly what I was waiting for. I was actually talking to my buddy who used to have a 76' and he asked if anyone had recommended flames yet. Too funny.
Well as I've been hunting around, I think I've decided on a few things;
1.) I think I'm going to do is take the ugly bumper that's got some beautiful rust on it off and replace it with a set of abarth bumper posts. Whatever those are called. This way, the front will be accented a little bit better (Back bumper too)
2.) I suddenly got all excited about turning this car into something and then it hit me....it's a Fiat......why would I want it to be anything but that, so I think I'm going to stick with a color very similiar to the Imperial Blue that it has now, but maybe a shade or two darker. The racing stripe(s) is/are a must though!
3.) I'm going to find some amber indicator light to put in the hole where the wiring comes through for the bumper. Not sure of the dimensions yet.
(Tentative) 4.) I was thinking of taking the back luggage rack off. I really like the lines fo the car and I think it kind of takes away from it. Any thoughts? The car came with it, but it's one less piece to polish as far as I'm concerned.
I think that's enough pipe dreaming for a rainy friday....

Corvette, was seen on the beach in Santa Monica today sporting
a retro convertible of some kind. Passerby's thought it was just the
latest installment from the MTV ghetto show "Pink my Ride".

I was actually in my Fiat going up PCH and saw her.
I think she turns 147 on her next B-day.
