Brad, the installation instructions are here:

and, yes! a stock '78 knob will work great. 10mm x 1.25 threads

only the wooden conical knobs from the two litres need to be modified.

Hello Mike, got my shifter and it looks great. do the late model knobs not work because of different thread size, or the same thread but too far up in the knob?

greg, the later model knobs do not work without modification because the threads are recessed too far into the knob.

if anyone wants to use one of those knobs, simply cut an inch off the bottom of the knob (you will never miss that inch).

John,

I have to tell you, just order it  . You will not be disappointed. The improvement in shifts is awesome. It took me minutes to install. Probably one of the best low buck performance additions you can make. Now, if only Mike would come out and design and manufacture one for my Alfa.

Mike,

I can't leave work right now. How about if I ship it out to you for testing  ? And you can drive it back. Thanks for all of our help.

gotta comment on the MSS. I just installed one for a customer and admit I'm no longer skeptical. I thought it would be too short and uncomfortable to reach. But it works great and is just the right length. The shift boot fits better with the shorter upper lever too. Very nice product Mike. I'm now advocating them to all of my customers

I too installed the MSS a few weeks back and can say without hesitation that it's a GREAT modification. I no longer have to "dislocate" my shoulder going into 5th... :D . Now looking for a different shift knob. Has anyone ever tried a T handle (Hurst) ?

Thanks again Mike......
