Michigan Short Shifter
I must say, I ordered the short shifter from Mike and it got here in incredibly quickly. I barely had time to take my center console off before it arrived. So it sat for a couple of days until i got the nerve to attempt taking off the regular shifter. Only about 15 minutes and it was off.
The short shifter first of all looks very well crafted. It looks professional, not like the accessories I used to buy from K mart back in the 70's for my 124 sedan. It went on fairly easy.
The drive was awesome. I love the feel of it and the look. I will have to take some pics, I am on short time hehe as I am get to work the next 3 nights in a row, so Friday or Saturday I will take some pics.
thanks Mike, I love it!

Another convert! Mike, I think you'll have another customer soon. When we were at Steve's working on his engine, Gary Pogue asked me about mine, got in my car and shifted it a few times, and was very impressed.

Thanks Al, for the compliment. Thanks Ron for the referral.
seems that no matter how difficult the economy gets, we are still maintaining, upgrading, and modifying our Fiat Spiders !!
My friend in Columbus is reporting that he's as busy as ever with the services and goods he provides our little community. I am selling a steady stream of Michigan SHORTER SHIFTERS.
Hooray for Spider owners! We stimulate the economy without sacrificing the future of our unborn grandchildren..without complaining, and with a spirit of fun.

This is something I'd like to add to my list of things to do to my Spider.
How's the reach to 5th? I've got the seat pretty far back.
Anyways, my knob will constantly rattle around until I decide whether to fix it or mod it.

Re: Michigan Short Shifter
Actually, because the knob ends up closer to the pivot point, you have less reach to 5th gear. Zero rattling with my Shorter Shifter. With the original I got tired of constantly turning it to get the lettering of "FIAT" right side up.

Just a question, are there any pictures of this kit, and how much does it cost? Thanks

Re: Michigan Short Shifter
Got mine on Friday... the hardest part was getting the old shifter off. The only downside is that the expensive Nardi Prestige shift knob I have doesn't fit. I'm sure I'll think of something, I'll try tapping out a short piece of pipe next week, for now I'll have to make due with the $14 chrome skull...
It does give a good positive feel to the shifting though.

Re: Michigan Short Shifter
I had to post, we had ours installed about 3 weeks and just came back from a 440 mile trip up the Northern California coast. The Michigan short shifter made all the difference, much shorter throws and 5th doesn't seem to be out past 1st base! Another satisfied customer! Press On Regardless! Charlie
