steering wheel swap out

Post by WarbirdAL »

Sorry to ask this question again if it has already been asked.. I did a search and wasnt able to locate it so

How diff is it to swap out the older steering wheel (wood type looking) with one of the newer ones? or even an aftermarket one? I have one sitting in my garage and looked at it but it wont work onthe existing setup and I dont want to do much mods if possible

it's easy, but you need the later (79 up) adapter

Isn't it safer to have a wood wheel that shatters when your head hits it in an accident than a new, tougher one? :p

wood wheels have a steel band inside, my new MOMO wheel is leather. So even though some cow gave its' hide for my wheel, I prefer that to pulling splinters from my scalp

the splinters may be organic, but the coating on them is made of lots of cool chemicals

I've always liked the look of the older wooden steering wheels. I'll probably make a change from my leather one to a nice wooden one. We'll see though.

The originals were plastic made to look like wood. Finding an uncracked original is like finding the holy grail. :(

Thus your spider will live forever. While mine will dwell for eternity in the purgatory of engine replacement and incompatible parts.
