Injection/carb?

Post by Bob7z7 »

So a quick follow up question. Keeping in mind that I am perfectly comfortable with fuel injection systems as far as working on them, which do you feel is more driveable/reliable in the Fiats? I've read that the addition of FI in '81 really added tot he power and driveability of the Spider, but figured I'd get your guys' .02 on it.

It all depends what youre workin with, and what you are trying to achieve. There are many performance modifications, you need a overall plan. Im happy with my performance 2bbl carb, and I have worked on FI cars since 76. I like the simplicity.

I wouldn't build the car for power, I have my V8 Mopars for guzzling gas.
My main goals would be comfortbale daily drivability and fuel economy I suppose. Generally FI has the advantage there but I wanted to make sure there were no well know glaring problems with the FI systems on these cars before seeking one out.

Go for the FI

Having done a conversion, FI was worth the effort.

the Bosch L-Jet FI system on the Fiat works well and is relatively simple to troubleshoot. Driveability and reliability are far superior for a daily driver with the FI
