Very nice. I've been looking at an aftermarket console that straddles the original. It looks something like this: Image but is sized much narrower and looks like it would fit the Spider.

There are several types here in Japan that I've not seen in the USA that were designed for micro cars. Unfortunately, I have no way of telling if it will fit the Spider since my car is 8,000 miles away.

Sergio, The unit I make is 5-1/2" wide. The bottom of it just barely touches the seat-back and it is squeezed in slightly at the top. Because the seat back is kind of fan shaped at the bottom, the one in your picture would be quite a squeeze if it's 5-1/2" or wider. Then you wouldn't be able to lift the lid either. Also, it looks like it would be kind of high to be an armrest considering it sits on top of the console. Can you get the dimensions for me and I can make a mock-up and get pictures of it in place for you?

I wish I had my Spider here or the actual dimensions up and down the console. The unit pictured is actually for a minivan because I can't find one on the exact unit they have here. By any chance do you have a diagram of the factory console that shows width measurements from the handbrake area to the back? The one here is pretty narrow and shallow as it is designed for subcompact cars. I just hate to spend the money not knowing if it will fit.

I don't have a diagram, but the measurements are 11" from the back of the handbrake slot to the back of the console. Mine is the padded unit, so it is flat all the way. The standard console has a raised ridge around the back of the handbrake slot and I'd guess it's 8-1/2" from the back of it to the back of the console. This is a guess because I don't have one here to measure. 5-1/2" is a good width to fit in the space.
