Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a 1979 124 2000. My first foray into the world of vintage sports cars. I did my homework and inspected every inch as best I could. Seem's mechanically sound but was literally hand painted with a brush at some point during it's history. They did a surprisingly good job from a distance. So now I just have to see what inevitable horrors await haha. I'm genuinely looking forward to the adventure though and I'm sure I will be a regular on here for quite some time.
If you are in NE Ohio I'd love to know.
Hello from the Cleveland East Suburbs

I'm not in NE Ohio, but nonetheless, Welcome!
And yes, my '71 spider appears also to have been painted with a brush or spray can at best....

Here are some pics. Let me know if you see anything that shouldn't be there:

I haven't registered it yet but will once I get it home. Waiting for a weather window to pick it up, winter is no fun in NE Ohio.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Hello from the Cleveland East Suburbs
Looks good from the pictures. Not unusual, but there are a few non-stock items: seat covers, aftermarket air cleaner and crankcase breather port, possibly aftermarket ignition system, and non-stock heat shield on the exhaust manifold. Most of these are likely improvements over stock. There is no timing belt cover, so some work has been done on this engine in the past.
Just curious: It looks like there is a white wire or tube running along the top of the radiator to the cap. Do you know what that is for?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. The car has fog lamps on the front bumper so I am assuming that is a bad wiring job for those. There is a switch just hanging under the wiring harness for them. I pick the car up on Friday so I'll get a better idea then.
Thanks for your insight I really appreciate it!

So, did you get the car home without any problems?
Car looks good, hope the technical part is the same good state!
btw.: Spring has gone again, Winter is back here in Germany!
So the car is still in hibernation mode..![Sad :-(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
