I need more grip on my 79. I use it in the winter a bit and I'm planning on doing some rallycross in the spring. I currently have some studded tires but grip is still not great. I have a torrent diff that supposedly fits up to 78, took it to the machine shop bit they weren't able to or was going to be too expensive to make work.
Any ideas before I weld up the original diff?
Also looking for ideas to beef up the steering and suspension.
Thank you
Diff ideas please

You drive your Fiat in the show, salt?
Russians make nice aftermarket LSDs for Lada that fit Fiat rear end up to -78. I have one and like it. I used to break diffs every time I got new, sticky tires. The russian one is billet steel vs porous cast iron. Until the late -90's or so, most russian cars had the early Fiat 124 rear axle.
They come in multiple levels of lockup. Need one for street. I have a record of what i bought and received.
You could swap the entire rear axle to the early version.
What is the torrent(?) diff you mention?

Auto correct... I meant torsen diff. It is the Lada torsen. Doesn't fit the 79. I suppose swapping the axle to a 78 or earlier would be a solution if I could find one nearby. There is also tractionconcepts.com which make lsd conversion kits but doesn't look like they have one for the 79.
Yeah I drive it in the winter in the snow and salt. I got it cheap and quite rusted, I did some fairly quick and not too extensive rust repairs and sort of keep on the rust. I drive the integrale in the summer.

It would be cool to keep around for awhile but I wanted something fun to drive in the winter. I drive the integrale in the summer.
