Hi everyone,
I'm doing some interior work and installing a new radio on my new-to-me 1981 Fiat 2000. The lower center console is MIA (cracked to pieces when I was removing it, the vinyl was egg-shell brittle) and I will be getting a new hard-plastic repo at some point, but I am planning on capping the radio (upper) console with a cap from AR. I'll spray it with the beige plastic paint they sell.
It looks like I will have to remove the chrome-surrounded wood panel on the radio console to install the cap. How do I remove it? I was getting ready to try to pry it off with some plastic auto trim tools, but I'm worried about cracking the wood.
I'm brand new to these cars and will greatly appreciate any advice...

Re: removing radio console wood panel?
Ok, just for the record, I ended up figuring out the answer myself...the wood panel is held on by the metal frame, which has four metal tabs (two on top and two on bottom) that go through small slots in the console. I couldn't see them from the rear because of all the foam goo. I used a plastic automotive trim remover tool to gently pry the frame loose. The panel isn't glued on or anything, and just pulls off.
