32/36 weber install

Post by Nickrp »

72 850. One of the many boxes of extra parts that came with my car had a 32/36 DGAV or DCAV (hard to read it) in it. What do i need for the conversion?

I'm guessing you've got a 32/36 DGAV, which is the mirror image of the very common 32/36 DFEV used as an upgrade on the 124 spiders. "A" is for "Water (Acqua)" and "E" is "Electric" for the type of choke, coolant driven or electric.

I think the main thing you'll need is the right intake manifold for this carb. I'm not familiar enough with the original 850 intake manifolds to offer advice, but some searching on the web might answer this.

The other issue will be how to connect the linkages from the as pedal to the carb, and oftentimes owners have to cobble something together with brackets and cables and such to make it all work.

Just a thought, though: The 850 spider has a pretty tiny engine, and a 32/36 carb may be too much for it. I'm not saying it can't work, but you might also need to heavily modify the engine to see any real performance gains. Cams, compression, porting, custom exhaust, etc.

Thanks for the reply. Yea at 900cc, its pretty small. Smaller than my motorcycle. Every single pony gained is a win for this go kart. I just rebuilt the original carb so this new one is on the shelf for the future until ive collected more pieces, like you said, cam, porting etc but just need to know what riser and adapters i need
