Just a guess, but it might have to do with the relative scarcity of Fiat spiders relative to other cars. Just as an example, the production numbers in just one year (1969) for my Chevy C-10 pickup truck were about the same as the entire production run of Fiat spiders from 1968 into the early 1980s. So, lots more old Chevy trucks to customize and find drivetrain parts for.

My research indicates the 92 VR6 Corrado stock was 0-60 = 6.7 secs and 1/4 mile = 15.1. My original 92 VR6 I had in the late 90s/00s was stock and those numbers seem about right. My current Touareg Hybrid is listed as 5.8 and 14.3 for same values and it is definitely quicker than my old Corrado (and even my 911S I previously owned). The new Corrado I just picked up has been bored .010, larger Euro version cylinder head, bigger fuel injectors and performance chip to name a few of the upgrades. And it is very noticeably faster than my Touareg. Can't wait to try out the Dragy and see what it reveals. It arrived today but alas, freezing rain here now and rest of weekend. :|

Bryan,

Makes sense. Fortunately, the VW guys keep production of IDFs (and EMPI knockoffs) high and prices pretty low.

Sweet Corrado Waldo! Let us know what the Dragy reveals...
