No, we used regular wheel bearing grease. The possum grease was what we used before hair gel.

Dave, I'd be willing to bet that Clark has had experience with wheel bearings before. Just not experience with Fiats. And hey, wheel bearings are wheel bearings, no matter what car they're on. A wheel bearing by any other name would smell as sweet. No wait, that's not the right quote.
Clark, I think Dave is just expressing his concern for your safety. Some of these guys are really hung up about this silly safety thing.

I repacked my bearings a few weeks ago, I need to go ahead and get some new ones... but this is a very straightforward process and getting your hands all greasy and nasty is 1/2 the fun!!!! Nick, Clark, Ron, Possum Pete, whatever, one tip when packing bearings with either a packer or by hand; use a pair of either latex or nitrile gloves. It makes cleanup a lot easier, and it's better for your hands

Brake fluid, motor oil, engine degreaser, bleach, etc... I never wear gloves when I do anything.

Maybe that's why I have such manly callused hands.
